Croydon Borough Girls Football Club has achieved Charter Standard Community Status, the highest accolade that can be awarded to a community based club and the only girls' club in the borough to gain the kitemark.
The Charter Standard Scheme is a best practice guide that sets standards of coaching, administration and child protection for all clubs outside the Football League and Premier League, to improve the playing experience for all. As part of the Charter Standard Scheme, the FA Community Club scheme places clubs at the heart of the community. Clubs that have achieved the award have proved a high quality, multi-team (minimum of 10 teams) set up with excellent social, training and playing opportunities for all.
Croydon Borough Girls' FC was required to meet stringent FA criteria, to ensure it provides opportunities for all players irrespective of age, religion and ability and that coaches, first aiders and child protection officers are appropriately qualified. Its written constitution and Codes of Conduct were also scrutinised and found to be of the standard required.
Karen Bailey, Secretary of the Surrey County Womens' and Girls' League, said "I am delighted that Croydon Borough Girls FC have attained Charter Standard Community Club status - the most prestigious award achievable by a grassroots Club. This reflects the effort and commitment of the volunteers who run this progressive Club and its many teams. I would like to congratulate everyone at the Club and wish them well in the future - may all their ambitions come to fruition."
