Croydon U11's 1

Molesey Juniors 6

From the off all the girls got stuck in as they knew it was going to be quite a tough game. Unfortunately today turned out to be one of them days where we just couldn't seem to get the ball in the back of the net but it wasn't from the lack of trying.

The game started but unfortunately a few minutes in Moseley scored, although the goal was early on in the game the girls didn't let this bother them and made a good run at the Moseley goal themselves but Moseley defended well and denied them. Then it was their turn to defend and they did when Ciara made a save, this was followed up with an attacking run at Moseley and a good goal for Croydon by Sophie, this took the score to 1-1.
This gave the girls a lift as they followed up immediately with another run at the Moseley goal again they were denied. A spell of defending and attacking took place with both sides being denied by good defending on Croydons behalf by Rebecca, Megan and Jorja all doing their part really well and Ciara with another good save in goal. It was Croydons turn again to have a try and even with the goalkeeper on the floor Morgan and Sophie between them just couldn't get that ball over the line. Moseleys turn to have a go then and they managed to get a goal past Ciara who tried really hard to save it. Rebecca continued with her constant good defending and Sophie stopped a free kick to Moseley going anywhere. This brought the 1st half to a close.

The 2nd half started with Sophia coming on and making a good defensive stop and then a Croydon corner which unfortunately lead to nothing, then it was an unlucky miss for both Megan and Morgan who made goods runs only to be denied a goal one way or another. Moseley then took their chance and scored a 3rd goal taking it to 1-3.
Rebecca now in goal then made a good save to deny Moseley their 4th. Up the other end Morgan tried and Sophie tried again but they just couldn't get it in, Abbie also trying again and again with attacking runs but that ball just wouldn't go in that Moseley net leaving everyone wondering what they had to do to get a goal, and while we were left wondering Moseley scored again, although Rebecca did try to save their 4th goal.
The girls however didn't lose heart, never gave up and kept trying. Although Sophie defended brilliantly by stopping a few Moseley efforts they still managed to get another goal, making it their 5th. After that Morgan made a good run at goal the other end to try and scrape one back but went wide, hitting the side of the net, with the match coming to an end the girls tried their hardest but Moseley managed to squeeze one more in the net a minute before the end making it 1-6 at the final whistle to Moseley

However although they lost today all the girls played extremely well until the very end and they certainly didn't make it an easy win for Moseley and could have easily even the score many times if it hadn't been one of them days.
