2009/10 Season:

CBGFC v Abbey rangers (under 11's)

Team: Morgan, Sophie W, Sophia, Rebecca, Melissa, Jorja, Amy, Georgia and Olivia

1st home match today for the under 11's at the new home ground but it started a bit quiet for the girls, they allowed A.R in quite quickly and before you knew it they were 1-0 down when A.R scored but the girls rallied and soon settled and once they did they were off, play was mainly down the abbey end and Sophie W scored a cracking goal from the left bringing it to 1-1, the girls and us were pleased and this is how they continued, passing balls and looking for goals all the time, if play reached our end the girls in defence, Rebecca and Sophia were on it and keeping A.R out. All the Croydon girls were pulling together and with passing getting better and better between Olivia in Midfield, Sophie and Jorja on the wings and Morgan upfront, Morgan grabbed her chance and scored taking it to 2-1 to Croydon, not long after that Jorja had a go at goal and scored Croydon's 3rd things were looking good and even more so when Amy made a great save to keep the score at 3-1, with the 1st half coming to a close there was just enough time for Morgan to have another try from a brilliant, well placed throw on from Sophia but unfortunately Morgans shot went wide however just before the whistle Olivia wasnt to be beaten and with determination to stick with it scored another taking it to 4-1 at half time.
The 2nd half started and the girls continued as they left the 1st half, we were all pleased as it was with the score line but then Sophie took a great corner and found the back of the net with the ball, it was unlucky for the A.R keeper for the goal to go in but we were happy that this took the score line to 5-1, Croydon. We eased off a little at that point and A.R managed to get a goal back they kept pushing for about another 10 minutes but with Georgia helping out in defence and Amy making another great save we kept them out we stepped up a gear again and with Georgia and Melissa being persistant we won most balls back and with another attempt saved we made one final push with Olivia making a great pass to Morgan who made the most of it, her shot went past the goalie, hit the post and spun in to score again the final score was 6-2 to Croydon and with last weeks draw, has made a great start to the under 11's season. Well done girls.
