This was the opening game of the season and Croydon had to work really hard for their victory. In truth the home side were by far the better team, but Guildford had a very good defence and made it difficult for Croydon to get into any rhythm.
Croydon open the scoring after 30 min when Sian swept the ball into the net after a corner. However the joy was short lived as two defensive errors allowed Guildford back into the game and they lead 1-2 at half time.

After a few stern words at half time Croydon started the 2nd half looking as though they meant business. This soon paid off as Cheyne lobs the ball over the keepers head to make it (2-2).
It was now all Croydon and the home defence was playing superbly by keeping the Guildford attack quiet. However upfront chance after chance went begging and it looked as if the game would end in a draw!
With 3mins to go Cheyne produces another long throw which causes panic in the Guildford defence and they struggle to clear it. Alexia seizes the moment and coolly strikes the ball into the bottom corner of the net to put Croydon back in front (3-2).
The ref soon blows up for full time and it's a great start to the season.
