Croydon's lack of fire power kept them firmly rooted to the bottom of the Premier league, with Fozzie's solitary strike in the first half earning them their first point of the season. Croydon failed to break down a well organised and resistant Beecholme defence despite their wonderful football, which sadly lacked that spark in front of goal. It's the second week running that the game should have been put to bed by half time.
Croydon took the lead on the 15 minute mark when Fozzie hit her fourth of the season taking the ball in her stride and placing it in the right hand corner. Croydon should have pushed on and sealed the points before the break, but the second killer goal didn't arrive and that's been the pattern of the season so far; Croydon taking their foot off the gas once they get their noses in front.
The second half was a bit of a shambles with Beecholme walking through the middle and creating a few chances of their own. Chloe had to be on her toes a couple of times making some fine saves. But she could do nothing about Beecholme's equalizer which duly arrived midway through the second half. Croydon huffed and puffed but tried in vain for the winner.
All in all Croydon didn't play badly in a tight contest but we can't keep saying we were unlucky. They need to start scoring and quickly. If this was a school project it would read "Must Do Better"!
POTW: Chloe - a commanding performance between the sticks, well done Chloe.
