Kingstonian Youth 0

Kingstonian kicked off on a bitterly cold afternoon, but Kate was a little too eager and was on them too fast, so we had to restart. Croydon immediately put pressure on the Kingstonian goal and soon we had a corner, with Caitlin having a shot just over the bar. The pressure continued with Kate having a shot pushed out for a corner by their goalie. It continued in this vain for a while with Sophie, Kate and Amber all having opportunities, but the Kingstonian goalie was playing incredibly well, even though she suffered a few knocks in the process. Then finally the break through occurred with Kate going past her marker and shooting from a narrow angle to score. GOAL 1-0 to Croydon.
This was quickly followed by a second as Amber ran from midfield and shot low to the bottom right. GOAL 2-0 to Croydon.
Croydon continued to pressure and Georgia had a shot which the goalie saved well, but the ball spun loose and Amber just managed to turn it in after a bit of a scramble. GOAL 3-0 to Croydon.
Then a good move in the middle of the park resulted in Amber putting Kate through who was unmarked and she slotted home. GOAL 4-0 to Croydon.

Half Time came and Tony used the opportunity to ring the changes. Off came Amy, Sophie & Caitlin to be replaced by Mae, Isabella & Eleanor.

It took a little while for the changes to settle and Kingstonian did manage to break into the Croydon half and just when it looked like it Stirling might be called into action Eleanor made a timely tackle and snuffed the threat out.
Croydon went back up the other end continued to press and it wasn’t long before Amber found Kate who threaded it through to Georgia who fired home. GOAL 5-0 to Croydon
Amber then broke up play in midfield and put a great ball through to Kate, who put it past the keeper for her hatrick. GOAL 6-0 to Croydon.
Tony immediately brought Kate off and gave Caitlin a chance up front with Isabella, and it was Caitlin’s dribble that put Mae through to score. GOAL 7-0 to Croydon.
It was then unfortunate that it was Mae who handled in our area to give a way a penalty for Kingstonian. At long last Stirling had work to do but unfortunately the shot went wide so she didn’t even have to make a save.
With full time approaching Croydon continued to push forward, and the ball went across the area and found Georgia loitering on the far post to turn the ball in for her second. GOAL 8-0 to Croydon.
This turned out to be the last kick of the game for Croydon, as the ref blew as soon as Kingstonian kicked off.

Thanks to Kingstonian for a good game, especially to their goalie who had a superb game and wasn’t afraid to dive for anything.
Croydon progress in the Cup and we wait to see who our next opponents are. Any guesses!!
