Sun 18 Nov 2007  Cup
Croydon U14's 0
Epsom Eagles 1

Croydon come out of the traps firing this week and put Epsom under some great early pressure. Both Amber and Amy see shots go just wide. Then from the back Georgia takes a quick throw in and gets the ball to Amber who fires across the box but unfortunately neither Amy or Kate could get their foot on the end. Epsom start to see more of the ball and start to put pressure on our goal, but resolute defending from Caitlin and Georgia sees them shooting from long range.
Then the worst thing happens and a shot seems to be saved by Stirling only to rebound off the post directly to an Epsom player who has an empty net to slot home.
GOAL 0-1.
Credit to the girls though as this didn’t phase them and they were soon on the attack again. Amber had a great shot well saved by their goalie. Then both Kate & Amy go close.
Epsom have their moments but Stirling is equal to it all today.

The second half is similar to the first with Croydon doing all the attacking, but it just didn’t seem to want to go in. We managed to hit the bar, put it wide and put it across the goal but somehow didn’t manage to get it in the goal. Highlights included Amber having sizzling shot across the area which Kate just misses it, Caitlin having a god run into the box and just going wide with her shot and Kate having a header come off the bar.

In the end it wasn’t to be, but as every week the girls gave it their all and they can be proud of the way they played.
